** Clarence W. Barron (1855-1928) was an American financial journalist, considered the founder of
modern financial journalism. He was one of the most influential figures in the history of Dow Jones
& Company. At the time of his death, he was both president of Dow Jones and de facto manager
of its flagship publication, "The Wall Street Journal".
Medill McCormick was part of the McCormick family of businessmen and politicians in Chicago. He was a
graduate of Yale University. After working for and becoming part owner of the Chicago Tribune, which his
maternal grandmother had owned, he entered politics. He was elected to the House of Representatives (1917-1919)
and the U.S. Senate 1919-1925. Committed suicide at 48.
